Judge Bruce Littlejohn

Judge Bruce LittleJohn was born in Pacolet in 1913 and grew up here. He is one of Pacolet's most famous native sons. He had a long distinguished legal career before retiring as the Chief Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court in 1985. At the age of 90, in 2003, he wrote a book about his childhood in Pacolet. It is titled Pacolets I Have Known. The University of South Carolina Library is the holder of Judge Littlejohn’s papers and copyrights. They have kindly given us permission to make the book available on the “Pacolet Memories” website.

A special thanks to Easter Steadings Fisher who brought this book to my attention and also sent me the copy that I scanned for this website.

The book has been marked with links that will take you to related subjects already on the website. It is astonishing how much life in Pacolet changed during Judge Littlejohn’s lifetime. You can read this very interesting book at PACOLETS I HAVE KNOWN.
