Pacolet High School Baseball
William "Vitamin" "Shug"
Trent and James "Ping" Toney. They were on the 1946
Pacolet High School team that lost to Olympia High in a
one game playoff for the Upper State Championship.
The 1971 Pacolet High
School team, under coach Wilcey McDonald, won the Upper
State Class AA Chamionship but lost the State
Championship.
The1972 Pacolet High
School team, under head coach Bud Wells and assistant
coach Wilcey McDonald, beat Jackson for the Upper State
Class AA Championship and beat Johnsonville for the
State Championship. (This was the only State
Championship in Spartanburg County School District 3
before the merger of Pacolet and Cowpens High Schools
into Broome High School.)
